Skeleton Lady Gaga - Born This Way!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share this with you.

Here is the music video for Lady Gaga's song "Born This Way." Not only is it a great song, but this video takes the cake. The choreography is amazing and so is the entire concept for the video, but my absolute favorite part is the make-up. The make-up is great from beginning to end but the best part begins at the 4:09 marker. All I am going to say is Skeleton Lady Gaga, and the guy who is with her is super hot too!

Rodney the Zombie. Issue #2. Set #1.

Hello everyone!

Here is the first set of pages from Rodney the Zombie, Issue #2. I didn't know if I wanted to begin posting this issue or have it printed, but with my move still fresh and still getting on my feet posting seemed the best solution to get this story to my readers.

Previously in Rodney the Zombie, Issue #1 Hitting the Help Wanteds: Rodney happens to be a zombie...and an actor, but has been fired from a movie because he refuses to be a typical zombie; he won't be typecast into a normal role for a zombie or act like every other zombie in the film industry. Upon leaving the studio he waits for the bus, and just his luck, it begins to rain. When he arrives home he proceeds to get drunk in front of the television and fall asleep. He is suddenly woken up by the delivery of the morning newspaper, and decides its time to "hit the help wanteds."

Issue #2 is a continuation of the previous story that Rodney is looking for a job, but there is also an addition to the story to make it more interesting. This is where the real story begins for Rodney. Come back each week and see the story unfold.

This also marks the ending of the old way that I created comics. For issue #1 and #2 I drew on 81/2" x 11" office paper (so the images I drew are actual size when printed), with everyday office pens. Now I draw twice the size of the actual printed page so the images are better and more detailed, and I use proper comic drawing pencils, pens, and inks. Issue #3, is in the new style, and the difference is noticeable and better!

Enjoy this installment and all that there is to come in the future!

Movie Night!!!

I haven't had a movie night since before I moved, so I thought it was high time that I had one. For tonight, the movies will be Panic in Year Zero and Carnival of Souls. I have seen both these films before and they are two of my all time favorites.

Basically, Panic in Year Zero is about a family trying to survive an atomic attack on Los Angeles, and their escape from the area, and Carnival of Souls is about a woman who begins to see ghostly figures after she "survives" (?) a horrible car accident.

I'd suggest these films to everyone, and I especially suggest them to you because they are so good.

Movie nights are always great to relax and have a good time, and having a "B" film night is even greater because they are always good. Whether the movies are just good, or so crappy they are entertaining it's a win-win situation!

You are in luck too...Carnival of Souls is a public domain film so you can watch it for free!

Hopefully you have a movie night soon so you can relax and unwind from the week!

Enjoy!

Buried Alive Film Fest 2011!

Here is one of the reasons why I am so excited about living in Atlanta, GA...the Buried Alive Film Fest.

Since I am new to the city I don't know what events are here, so I searched online. Of course, the first thing I searched for is a Zombie Walk and anything dealing with zombies, which I was happily successful at finding, but I also found many horror events.

Movie nights, spook houses, you name it Atlanta has it in some form! In fact, if you are interested you can look at the side bar on my blog and find several advertisements for such events, just click on the ad and it will take you to the appropriate website! If anything or if you aren't in the city of Atlanta it might give you an idea for a movie night or event that you can do or find in your area. Have fun!

Night of the Living Dead...(3 out of 6 stars)

I was extremely excited about the Night of the Living Dead comic series when I first found out about it. I didn't even know they actually created it until the second story line had begun, so I hurriedly bought volume one to see what was going on.

Initially, I was enthralled with the concept, volume one is a prequel to the original movie. You get the story of Ben in the Diner, how the little girl with the abusive father was bitten, how the first zombies that attacked the town came to be, new characters are added to spice things up, and Barbara and her brother make a small cameo! Another good part of the comic is it branches off with the new characters with their own stories. All-in-all great, except for two things that derailed the story in my opinion.

First is the amount of sex in the comic. The creators took something great and that could stand on its own and injected a modern necessity to keep the readers attention. The original movie doesn't rely on sex to drive the story or get the viewers attention. It uses suspense and horror, and is a cinematic gem. Then there's the comic which has several young couples in each issue having sex, and it shows everything on a woman, and almost no male nudity (and if it is present its blacked out which is a sore point for me). Everywhere you turn though is sex, and it does overpower the story. I am not being a prude, trust me, I am fine with nudity and the art in this story is amazing. I can say that the naked spread-eagle ladies are drawn and inked beautifully. It's just too much.

Another problem (though not a big one) with the comic I have is the way that everybody dies in the story. It is often repetitive, and got a little boring by the end of the comic. Lets see, all the men get their eyes gouged out, then ripped apart, and the women get their breasts ripped off, then get eviscerated. It's okay for the first two issues, but by the fifth its *yawn.*

Minus the sex, and I can deal with the manner in which people are killed this is a great comic, the art was amazing; all the characters are drawn well, and the zombies are fabulous. The creativity is another good point in this series. The way things tied into the original movie is great and it does capture the original characters to a 'T,' plus the new additions stand on their own as strong characters.

I would read this again, which I am, and I would recommend it to others, not strongly but it is good enough to pass it on.

Below are images and links to the imdb websites for the original and remake of Night of the Living Dead so that you can get further information on the movies if you are interested. I would recommend both films because they are both amazing!

Don Knotts in: The Primordial Forest!

Hey everyone! Here are my newest creations. Above is the one page comic that I created from a jam comic* that was drawn the last session of my Comics 101 class, it was just a fun activity that we did for our last class. Along with the one page comic I explored a splash page of an alternative ending that I had for the last panel (below). I thought it was entertaining and funny so I thought it needed to be expressed. I get a kick out of these, and I hope that you do too! Enjoy!

I am planning on creating more Don Knotts comics. I don't know when, but I have had a lot of fun with these two so there will definitely be more in the future!

On a side note, these are the last two comics that I drew in Joplin, Missouri. I am now a resident of Atlanta, Georgia. I am very excited about this new life in a big city in a different state, but I will miss everything I know and love back in Missouri!

*Comics Jam: an improvised collaborative comics event where one person draws a single panel and passes it on to the next person, who draws the next panel and then passes it on, etc.
